# DIY Liposomal Melatonin

Using empty liposomes plus melatonin powder to create a more bioavailable melatonin mix at far lower cost than most ready-made liposomal products.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This page is educational only. It is not a prescription. Liposomal delivery may materially change melatonin exposure compared with ordinary oral powder or capsules.
{% endhint %}

### What the research suggests

Liposomal or encapsulated melatonin may increase blood levels by roughly **2–3 times**, sometimes more, compared with standard oral powder.

That does **not** automatically mean outcomes improve in the same proportion.

It does mean that equal milligram amounts may no longer equate to equal exposure.

### Intended daily dose

The intended daily dose is not a suggestion simply an example to guide ratios:

* **180 mg/day**

{% hint style="info" %}
Want to understand how much of a **180 mg liposomal dose** may actually be reaching circulation? See [Dosing, Bioavailability, and Human Scaling](/myhealingcommunity-docs/natural-medicines/melatonin-in-oncology-study-notes/dosing-bioavailability-and-human-scaling.md).
{% endhint %}

#### Working dose notes:

* **0.9 mL** of the finished mixture provides **180 mg**
* a small syringe with **0.1 mL markings** gives better precision
* the bottle should be gently shaken before drawing each dose
* the syringe should be rinsed after use
* if 60mg liposomal per day is the target, then the syringe with 180mg could last 3 days
* store the syringe in a clean storage box in the fridge on its side if using the 180mg across more than one day.

### Why protect melatonin from light

Melatonin is light-sensitive.

Even liposomal encapsulation does **not** fully remove the risk of photodegradation.

That is why careful storage matters:

* amber or opaque containers
* fridge storage
* minimising light exposure

### Why use liposomes here

The reasoning is straightforward:

* standard oral melatonin has limited bioavailability
* much is lost through digestion and first-pass metabolism
* liposomal delivery may increase the amount reaching the bloodstream

Many preclinical cancer studies used injection routes rather than routine oral delivery.

The DIY liposomal approach is one way to move closer to higher-exposure conditions **without needles**.

### Making 3 weeks worth at 180mg per day

<details>

<summary>Quick guide to measurements</summary>

* **20 mL** of Liposence
* **4 grams** of melatonin powder

This follows a ratio of:

* **1,000 mg melatonin per 5 mL Liposence**

This 20 mL batch should last roughly **3 weeks** at **180 mg/day**.

Daily use from that batch:

* draw **0.9 mL** per day with a 1ml needle-less syringe
* that 0.9 mL contains **180 mg melatonin**
* store in the fridge in a clean amber bottle away from light
* clean and dry the need*less* 1ml measuring syringe immediately after use

</details>

### Full-bottle logic - 180mg dosing, 222 doses

<details>

<summary>How to make 7 months worth at 180mg per day</summary>

A full **200 mL** Liposence bottle gives:

* 200 mL ÷ 5 mL = 40 servings
* 1,000 mg × 40 = 40,000 mg melatonin total

At **180 mg/day**, that works out to:

* 40,000 mg ÷ 180 mg/day ≈ 222 days

That is about **7 months and 12 days**.

Many people may prefer smaller batches, such as one 5 mL mix at a time, especially if they want to use the same Liposence bottle for creating other DIY liposomal formulas too.

### Costing Example for Liposence Melatonin

<details>

<summary>US $1.00 per day cost unpacked</summary>

#### Empty liposome base

* MCS list price: **€125** for 200 mL
* 5% discount with abbey5: **€6.25** off
* discounted price: **€118.75**
* estimated freight: **€20**
* estimated delivered total: **€138.75**

#### Melatonin powder

Using a working estimate of:

* **€50** for **40 grams** of good-quality melatonin powder

#### Total finished-product cost

* €138.75 + €50 = €188.75

#### Cost per day

* €188.75 ÷ 222 days ≈ €0.85 per day

Exchange rates vary day to day, but €0.85 per day is about US$1.00 currently

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://myhealingcommunity.gitbook.io/myhealingcommunity-docs/natural-medicines/liposomal-encapsulation-of-anti-cancer-compounds/diy-liposomal-melatonin.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
