# Synergistic Combinations

### With chemotherapy

Curcumin is frequently studied as a sensitising adjunct rather than as a standalone agent.

Common combination themes include:

* **Taxanes** — especially in breast and ovarian contexts
* **Gemcitabine** — especially in pancreatic models
* **5-FU** — especially in colorectal models
* **Platinum drugs** — including cisplatin and carboplatin across several cancer types

Reported benefits in the literature include:

* improved apoptosis
* reduced proliferation
* reversal of selected resistance mechanisms
* lower inflammatory signalling

### With natural compounds

Common pairings include:

* **Piperine** — mainly to improve standard curcumin absorption
* **Quercetin** — anti-inflammatory and chemopreventive overlap
* **EGCG** — overlapping antiproliferative and signalling effects
* **Resveratrol or polydatin** — complementary redox, anti-angiogenic, and anti-inflammatory effects
* **Boswellia** — inflammation-focused combinations
* **Vitamin D3** — immune and differentiation-related interest

### Note on curcumin plus polydatin

These compounds overlap across several pathways, including NF-κB signalling, apoptosis induction, anti-angiogenic signalling, and metastasis-related biology.

That overlap can be useful. It also means interaction review, dosing logic, and treatment timing matter even more when they are combined.

### Practical takeaway

Combination logic is one of curcumin's biggest strengths. It is also where expert guidance matters most, because synergy can improve efficacy but also change drug handling or timing considerations.
