# Safety & Interactions

Boswellia has a generally favourable safety profile, but it still needs proper review in oncology because of CYP interactions, anticoagulant questions, and active-treatment timing issues.

### General tolerability

* generally well tolerated in clinical trials
* higher doses are usually associated with mild GI symptoms rather than severe toxicity
* no strong QT or cardiac-toxicity signal has emerged

### Main cautions

#### CYP interactions

Boswellia may affect several CYP pathways relevant to cancer care, including tamoxifen-related CYP2D6 discussion and taxane- or corticosteroid-related CYP3A4 discussion.

#### Anticoagulant and antiplatelet caution

There is a theoretical mild blood-thinning concern, so extra caution is reasonable in people on warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, or with bleeding-risk states.

#### Immunosuppressant context

Because Boswellia can influence inflammatory signalling and may have immunoregulatory effects, specialist review is sensible in patients on transplant or heavy immunosuppressive regimens.

### Practical takeaway

Boswellia is not a high-toxicity compound in routine use, but it still deserves the same respect as any active adjunct when a person is on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, steroids, or anticoagulants.
